Leaf Pick Up

Fall leaf pickup begins October 16th and runs till mid December.

The service department will begin continuous curbside leaf collection on all streets starting Monday, October 16th. The collection will be house to house and street by street. Once the cycle of streets has been completed (all designated city streets) we will begin the cycle again.

The leaf truck will not turn around for those who miss the collection, and you will have to wait until the leaf collection cycle is completed on all streets before the truck will return. There is no fixed street schedule because one street may take longer. The service department aims to provide our residents with several leaf collection cycles this fall. The leaf pickup service is very dependent upon the weather. The city does not have a spring leaf pickup program.

Please place your leaves on the tree lawn for collection, not in the street. Leaves placed in the street can be a hazard to motorists and can block sewers, which can create flooding.   Please do not mix grass in with the leaves. Grass should be placed in bags for trash collection or composted. All branches should be tied and bundled in 4-foot lengths for trash collection or left loose and stacked separately away from leaf piles for the service department to collect.

For fast and efficient leaf collection, please follow these tips:

  • DO NOT place grass clippings or tall grass in with the leaves, as it will clog the machine and cause a delay in pickup.
  • Rake your leaves onto your tree lawn in a timely manner. This will help to ensure that you do not miss the crew when they are on your street.
  • Do NOT place the leaves in the roadway. Rake leaves to the tree lawn in a line as close to the curb as possible without entering the street. Leaves raked in a line rather than heaped in a pile help accelerate the pickup process. Leaves put into the roadway are also extremely dangerous for motorists.
  • Please place your branches and sticks in a separate pile where our chipper crew will gladly take them.
  • If possible, please refrain from piling any leaves AROUND a tree, fire hydrant, street pole, or signpost on your tree lawn.
  • The leaf truck cannot pick up very damp or snow-covered leaves.
  • Kimble will gladly accept leaves bagged and left out on your regular trash collection day.
  • On your regular rubbish collection day, twigs, branches, and tree limbs can be placed on your tree lawn. The service department will chip those items on your regular rubbish day only.
  • Do not place these items on your tree lawn prior to your regular rubbish collection day.
